About the EAU Patient Office

The EAU Patient Office is dedicated to providing reliable, patient-friendly information on urological conditions and treatments. We support patients and caregivers with resources to make informed decisions.

EAU Patient Office

The EAU Patient Office, a key division of the European Association of Urology (EAU), is dedicated to ensuring that patients and patient advocates play an active role in shaping urological healthcare.

Patient Advocacy

Partnering closely with the European Patient Advocacy Group (EPAG), the EAU Patient Office works to ensure that patients and advocates are central to the development of clear patient information, as well as efforts to raise awareness and enhance education.

The EAU Patient Office plays a crucial role in fostering greater collaboration between patients, healthcare professionals, and policymakers, ensuring that the patient perspective is fully integrated into all EAU activities.

Patient Information

The EAU Patient Information website provides reliable, evidence-based information on urological conditions and treatments, empowering patients to make informed decisions about their care. Available in multiple languages, this information is developed in collaboration with national societies across Europe to ensure accuracy and relevance.

Research

The EAU Patient Office spearheads multiple Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) initiatives, gathering direct insights from patients about their symptoms, treatment experiences, and quality of life. This is crucial for improving urological care, as it ensures that medical decisions and treatment strategies are guided by real patient experiences, leading to more patient-centred, effective healthcare solutions.

EAU Patient Day

Each year, the Annual EAU Congress hosts Patient Day—a dynamic event featuring insightful sessions developed by the EAU Patient Advocacy Group. Established to bring together healthcare professionals and patients, Patient Day fosters open discussions on key patient concerns. By uniting both perspectives in one room, it creates a unique space for meaningful, engaging, and impactful dialogue.

Established in 2021, the EAU Patient Office has a dedicated Chair and Vice-Chairs leading its efforts:

  • Prof. Eamonn T. Rogers (Chair) – Galway, Ireland
  • Dr. Markos Karavitakis (Vice Chair) – Athens, Greece
  • Dr. Michael Van Balken (Vice Chair) – Arnhem, the Netherlands

Patient Office Board

Supporting the Patient Office, the EAU Patient Office Board oversees patient-focused initiatives and projects. The Board consists of:
